SUMMARY:

In this role you will use SAS in accordance with approved statistical analysis plans adhering to study protocol, to program customized data displays and shell displays for clinical research studies. Create SAS datasets of clinical data from study databases. Other duties include creating safety and efficacy reports for NDA's Phase I thru IV studies. Upkeep study files which include annotated CRF's, protocols, table shells, and documentation. Extensive communication and interaction with Biometrics project team members.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Minimum 4 year computer science, math or equivalent degree
  2. Minimum 2 years SAS programming of clinical trial phase I thru IV data
  3. Background with large and/or customized datasets preferred

  5. Experience on VAX or PC platforms a plus


2). SAS PROGRAMMER/ANALYST (SAN FRANCISCO) SUMMARY You will develop, validate, and maintain SAS, SQL, VMS/DCL and PL/SQL programs to support Clinical Data Management; develop end-user applications for users within and outside of the Biostatistics and Data Management department; design, develop, validate and manage system; transfer data between different platforms.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. BS/MS in computer science or statistics or other analytical science fields.
  2. 2 years SAS programming experience in the pharmaceutical research industry(Phase I thru IV clinical trials).
  3. Thorough knowledge of BASE SAS, SAS/SQL, SAS/MACRO, SAS/GRAPH
  4. Knowledge of Clinical trial data, ORACLE, and VAX/VMS is preferred.

Position Summary:

Clinical Programmer/Analyst

The programmer will be responsible for processing data from sponsors, including data transfers, data cleaning, computer file management, reporting and documentation. Some coordination of fellow programmers depending on seniority, including training and interaction with sponsors. Languages used now are SAS, Visual Basic, VBA, C and Oracle with primary emphasis now on SAS and Visual Basic. This is a full time position with a requirement of one year of recent experience in each of the above 2 languages as a minimum.

Technical Core Responsibilities

  • Analyze, write, test, run and maintain Programs to generate datasets or databases, ASCII files, etc. to be transferred to the project sponsor as required.
  • Analyze, write, test, run and maintain computer programs for importing of data from external sources (e.g.,central labs, sponsor coding dictionaries, etc.) into the clinical database system.
  • Prepare data listing, tables, graphical displays of data in the dataset as required to support Kendle and /or sponsor’s data review, statistical analysis and report writing efforts on a project.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation files of all programs used to process data for a project.
  • Prepare data listings tables and summaries of data in the clinical database to support adverse experience regulatory reporting by Kendle and/or sponsor as required.
  • Performs other tasks required within Clinical Data Management as necessary to meet the needs of the business.

Leadership

  • Consistently provides innovative solutions to complex programming tasks.
  • Able to work independently in performing all principal responsibilities.
  • When required, serves as primary liaison with sponsor and other organizations outside Kendle.
  • Has primary responsibility for tracking and reaching technical services’ timeline milestones for assigned projects.
  • Direct the activities of Programmer/Analyst and Database Specialist personnel on assigned projects to ensure timely completion of high quality programming.
  • Participates in the training of Programmer/Analyst and Database Specialist personnel.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills Required

The job holder ideally must have a Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in SAS and Visual Basic with some exposure to clinical trials data processing. Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, merges and arrays plus a familiarity with Windows/Windows NT network environment will be considered a plus.

The programmer will needs to understand and carry out detailed instruction, be attentive to detail with flexible openness to suggestions. Good communication skills, team oriented with all departments as the programmer works on multiple tasks.
