I have a longterm assignment for a consultant as an Application Support Analyst. The position involves supporting a clinical data analysis and reporting application with a web based interface and uses SAS as the analysis and reporting engine.

Please note that the web and server support components of this position represent the primary focus, however, SAS experience would be extremely desirable if we can find a candidate with both sets of skills.

The major characteristics of the Application Support Analyst's role are:

  • Overall support of the application for a clinical research organization including the following components:
  • application (client and server)
  • Analysis tools
  • Proactive system monitoring (disk capacity, performance, etc.)
  • General administrative operations
  • Liaison with third-party support groups
  • Proactive analysis of support call trends
  • Contribution to application support knowledge base
  • Technical advise on system configuration (working with other support groups)
  • Planning and participating in system upgrades

Requirements are as follows:

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in a large computing environment
  • In-depth knowledge of Unix
  • In-depth knowledge of Web technologies including HTML, Perl, CGI, Web Servers
