The Department of Medical Epidemiology (www.mep.ki.se/) is a multi-discipline research group at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. The department is engaged in research covering a broad spectrum of diseases and works extensively with national registers and large prospective cohorts.
We currently have an opening for a senior biostatistician. The successful applicant is expected to closely collaborate with epidemiologists and clinicians and to take the lead on issues of design, analysis and reporting of studies. While the primary role of the position is to provide statistical support within the department, opportunities exist for independent research.
It is envisaged that the successful applicant will hold a doctoral degree in statistics or related discipline and have several years' experience in the provision of statistical advice and consultancy to health researchers. A doctoral degree is not, however, a requirement and more weight will be given to the level of experience in applied biostatistics. Knowledge of epidemiology and experience with SAS is an advantage.
The Department of Medical Epidemiology presently employs 100 staff. The current position will be filled in the department's Biostatistics Group. The group led by Prof. Juni Palmgren comprises an additional 3 Ph.D. level statisticians, 4 masters level statisticians, 3 IT professionals, and 3 programmers.

REQUIREMENTS: Our client has a reporting front end written in SAS\AF on NT. It uses SAS\Connect to link to MVS and query DB2 tables. The system uses SAS\Share to update common tables, and SAS\Intrnet to access the reports via a dynamic menu.
There's another set of SAS\AF screens that update some production DB2 tables. They need to make some changes to a number of the components (there's about 100 components in the system total). The coding changes will be mainly to the screens, SCLs and subclasses. There will also be some changes to macros and the SAS\Intrnet components. They are currently using SAS 6.12, (SAS 6.09 on MVS). They have a parallel effort to upgrade to SAS V8, and that may be rolled into this project.
They are looking for someone with very strong AF; familiarity with SAS\Intrnet or dynamic HTML in general would be a plus, as would MVS experience.
