Prepare analysis plans, perform exploratory analysis of data and write or review statistical sections for publications. Defend analysis and interpretations at internal and external meetings. Establish and maintain sound working relationships and effective communication within Biostatistics, clinical research ABR and the Programming group.

    Skills Required:

    Ph.D in Statistics/Biostatistics with strong experience (at least 3 years) in clinical trials. Very good oral and written communication skills. Advanced knowledge of application and interpretation of SAS inferential procedures. Strong ability to development SAS programs to perform exploratory analysis of data. SAS PROGRAMMER

Summary of Duties:

Enhance and support existing applications as well as design and develop new application for clinical studies. Gather and analyze client requirements to develop clinical trial reporting systems (including summary tables, patient listings, Case Report Form tabulations, and derived datasets), develop and maintain detailed design specifications, follow departmental standard operating procedures, validate systems and generate and maintain systems documentation. Assist with or provide programming support for special clinical projects.

Minimum Education: BS/BA in technical, computer science or life science.

1-20 years experience in base SAS skills.
Including:

  • Date/file management (datastep, merge/set array processing)
  • Proficient with SAS on multiple platforms, UNIX, SQL based relational products and MS Products (Excel)
  • SAS reporting (datanullstep)
  • PC skills, Windows 95/NT, Word, Excel
  • Some knowledge of Oracle considered a plus
  • Pharmaceutical and/or clinical trial experience considered a plus
  • An understanding of system development lifecycle (SDLC) principles.

SAS Programmer - San Diego, CA USA

Alliance Pharmaceutical Corp., a biotechnology firm in San Diego, is a leader in the development of liquid breathing and blood substitute emulsion technology. Alliance is presently seeking a SAS Programmer and a Statistician to assist with the analysis of clinical trials.

The programmer position involves the production and validation of standard and ad-hoc tables and listings. The statistician position involves writing statistical analysis plans, analyzing clinical trials, working with various groups in clinical research from the early stages of planning a study through completion of a study report and working on an NDA or MAA.

Requirements for the SAS programmer include Bachelor's degree, preferably in math, statistics, or a scientific discipline; 2+ years of SAS programming experience in the pharmaceutical/ Biotech industry; technical expertise with SAS/Base, Macros, and SAS reporting procedures. SQL, and SAS Graph. NDA or MAA experience a plus.

Requirements for the statistician include a Master's degree or higher with 2+ years as a clinical statistician in the pharmaceutical/ Biotech industry. NDA or MAA experience a plus.
