JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Sr. Statistical Programmer will develop SAS code and applications to
solve problems and to meet project and department needs, primarily for
programs used in the presentation and analysis of data collected in
clinical trials. Interact directly with IS, Biostatisticians, Clinical Data
Mangers, Statistical Programmers, Clinical Development staff, and
management as the leader and technical advisor of a project programming
team. Direct and coordinate activities of programmers assigned to a
project. Perform quality assurance checks of code and outputs. Constructs
estimates of project programming resource requirements, timelines, and
routinely brief management on team accomplishments, status, and issues.
Apply expert skills in writing SAS code to produce listings, tables, and
figures and developing GUI applications. Make technical presentations on
topics relevant to your area of technical expertise including SAS training.
Apply substantive knowledge of medical data, the design and phases of
clinical trials, statistics, relevant FDA regulations, and the
pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to the implementation of tasks.
Work independently under general supervision.
This position will be responsible for providing SAS programming,
validation, application development, technical support, and training.
Responsible for performing the leadership role in designing programming
strategies and SAS code for applications designed to analyze and report
data as specified by Biostatisticians, Statistical Programmers, and other
Clinical staff. Responsible for choosing coding strategies that
efficiently and effectively uses programming staff time to achieve project
technical goals within budget and timeline constraints while assuring high
quality standards. Responsible for leading and managing technical

We are currently looking for a Director Biostatistics and Data Management in
our Cambridge MA facility.
We are looking for 7+ years of Statistical Analysis in a Biotech /
Pharmaceutical environment with Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical trial data.
Experience with clinical protocol design, coordination of clinical database
design requirements, statistical planning and preparation of regulatory
submissions. Experience in management of clinical statistical contractors
and CRO. Phd / MS in Bio-Statistics or Statistics, and demonstrated SAS
programming skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs professional work in the design,
testing, requirements gathering and maintenance of software tools for
statistical analysis, modeling and database development. Duties include
data acquisition, validation, developing production systems and processes
to support new and existing projects, developing statistical modeling
applications and analyzing and summarizing complex data from varied
sources. This position works closely with team members and external data
partners to provide accurate and efficient delivery of models from
development to production and is responsible for providing technical
assistance and assisting in building relationships with the data partners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math,
Statistics or related field AND five (5) years of system and/or application
programming experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or
education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been
achieved.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three (3) years SAS programming experience with
minimum of Base and Macro coding. Experience with large data sets and
relational database management. Master's Degree in Statistics or related
field.

The SAS Programmer is a member of the Biostatistics team and plays a
lead role in performing all SAS programming required for clinical trial
analysis and reporting. The SAS Programmer must ensure that activities and
processes performed are conducted according to Ingenix and sponsor
requirements. This position works closely with the Biostatistics and Data
Management departments on various clinical projects.
This position requires time and resource management skills, strong SAS
programming expertise, and experience with pharmaceutical studies.
Major Responsibilities:
Act as a representative of the Biostatistics department on project
teams. Attend project team meetings as necessary.
Perform all SAS programming required for clinical trial analysis and reporting.
Generate tables, listings, and graphs as required.
Assist with statistical quality assurance review and program validation for each project.
Interact with other departments, such as Clinical Operations and
Project Management, to ensure a high level of client satisfaction through
successful execution of projects.
Requirements:
BS degree required, MS degree preferred.
Strong SAS programming expertise required.
Extensive experience in SAS programming for clinical trials is needed.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Computer proficiency is mandatory.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs, charts, and tables of information.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical
instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several

The Education Statistics Services Institute (ESSI) of the American
Institutes for Research, a well-established social science research and
development organization, seeks a Research Analyst for data analysis,
quality assurance and other general research tasks to support its client,
the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The incumbent will
initially work on the National Educational Assessment project (NAEP). NAEP
is the only nationally representative and continuing assessment of what
America's students know and can do in various subject areas, such as
reading, mathematics, science, writing, U.S. history, civics, geography, and
the arts. NAEP is a large-scale project that requires the incumbent to work
closely with clients and other research and technical staff. The successful
candidate must be detail-oriented and have a strong academic background in
statistics or survey methods, in addition to 2 years or more experience
performing statistical analysis using SAS, SPSS, or other major statistical
application. Ability to program in both SAS and SPSS highly desired.
