Work Description

  • Provide statistical programming support and validation of analysis datasets, pooled datasets, statistical tables, figures, listings and summaries for phase I - phase IV clinical trials.
  • Apply knowledge of clinical data, the design and phases of clinical trials, statistics, relevant regulations, and the pharmaceutical industry to the implementation of tasks.
  • Ensure standardization of programs where applicable.
  • Assists with developing specifications of analysis datasets, pooled datasets, tables, figures, listings and data structures.
  • Provide input into planning documents such as validation plan, definition of derived variables and SAP.
  • Generate and validate SAS output as requested to support analysis and reporting of clinical trial data.
  • Ensure all appropriate statistical programming quality control tasks are completed.
  • Provide output for the Clinical Study Report, the Integrated Summary of Safety (ISS), the Integrated Summary of Efficacy (ISE) and electronic submissions.
  • Handle complex statistical programming issues independently and be familiar with study programming issues.
  • Provide technical expertise for more junior programmers in the statistical programming group.
  • Participation on teams for both local and global initiatives and projects.

    Assignment Length: initial 6 months, plus extensions

    Rate: $40.00-$50.00 per hour ($83,200-$104,000 annualized)

    Consultant will produce SAS data sets and program SAS tables, listings and graphs for a Phase III Allergy/Respiratory project.     The Sr. Statistical Programmer is responsible for all project level aspects (analysis datasets, pooled datasets, listings and tables) for a drug project. The Sr. Statistical Programmer provides input to the protocol and CRFs to ensure that both documents are consistent and creates specifications for analysis datasets, pooled datasets, and listings. He/she provides input as appropriate to tables and figures for Phase I-IV clinical trials and submission activities to ensure that specifications adhere to the standards of the company and prepares programs for statistical reporting deliverables which includes establishing the programming standards for assigned projects.

  • Minimum of a BA/BS or equivalent experience in mathematics, statistics, computer science or life sciences or related field(s), with a minimum of 4 years experience is required or MS in Statistics/Computer Science and 2 years experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge/experience in SAS software.
  • Working knowledge of database design/structures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and diplomacy skills.

    The Client, located in the Northeast, specializes in disease management programs and has several positions open. These positions develop clinical and statistical models to identify patients, interventions and effectiveness of the chronic disease management programs that guide intervention activities. The activities include describing the population, risk modeling, gap analysis, developing patient registries, outreach, education and support, and impact assessment. Several opportunities for candidates with varying levels of experience are available.

    Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop, program and test new analytic models to predict likelihood of major medical events for individual patients and predict response rates to health intervention campaigns
  • Respond to ad-hoc analytic requests from clients
  • Work with account management staff and client teams to support client implementation and development of targeted opportunities for health care interventions
  • Support sales efforts with potential clients
  • Ensure completion of client requests and deliverables according to project deadlines
  • Qualifications:

  • Master, Ph.D. or equivalent experience in biostatistics, statistics, health economics, health outcomes research, pharmacoeconomics, or related field.
  • Experience working with large health care claim datasets for research projects, including work with SAS or other statistical packages
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Record of strong academic and/ or business achievement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with opportunities for advancement
  • Scientific writing and publication experience desirable
  • Health care experience strongly preferred, but other individuals with experience analyzing large, complex data sets are also encouraged to apply

    Senior Statistical Programmer/Data Archivist

    The Office of Population Research at Princeton University has an immediate opening for an experienced statistical programmer and data archivist. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty and research staff in the processing and analysis of large scale survey and census data, will help train staff and students in statistical computing, and will have primary responsibility for the office's data archive, maintaining an in-house collection of data and documentation, and facilitating access to social science data available from other sources such as ICPSR.

    The candidate must have a strong background in social science research and statistical analysis, with at least five year's experience providing support in data processing and analysis. Expert knowledge of the statistical packages SAS and Stata is required; R/S-Plus is highly desirable. Requirements include fluency in at least one scripting or high-level programming language, familiarity with standard internet tools and protocols, excellent written and oral communication skills, and an understanding of evolving social science standards for data documentation. Must be able to work in a mixed computing environment that includes Unix and Windows 2000 servers and workstations. Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in one of the social sciences; a Ph.D. is highly desirable. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
