Support programming needs within STATPROBE
B.S. or B.A. in statistics, computer science, math or IT required, MS in
Statistics preferred. At least two years SAS programming experience
required and exposure to pharmaceutical industry is highly desired.

SAS Programmer II - PA - Contract

Title: SAS Programmer II
Location: PA
Length: Initial term: 6 months + extension
Rate: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour ($72,800 - $93,600 annualized)
This statistician will be responsible for conducting statistical analyses of health outcomes data for
selected research projects in Global Health Outcome Assessment. By agreement with Bio-stats,
these take the form of analyses additional to those pre-specified in clinical protocol and part of
CSRs, i.e., for publication and economic modeling support. Specifically, at this time, there is an
urgent requirement for a statistician to be devoted to conducting health outcomes analyses for the
various tigecycline (infection) clinical programs nearing Phase III completion. There may be
additional need for help with other projects, including observational studies. In analyzing the
various clinical and observational databases, he/she will be responsible for ensuring data
consistency, validity and reproducibility and will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in
this regard. The position involves the following specific set of job responsibilities: Design
computer programs to access, validate and summarize health outcomes data (including validation of
pre-specified derived variables) over central clinical data platforms ? interface with colleagues in
Clinical Data Management, Clinical Programming and Electronic Data Management as necessary.
Develop statistical programs to analyze health outcomes according to previously specified clinical
analysis plans ensuring consistency with clinical study reports (CSRs), working collaboratively with
Clinical Biostatistics and Clinical Programming. Develop statistical programs and conduct additional
analyses of health outcomes not included in clinical study report, according to analysis plans
developed collaboratively with respective Directors and team leaders. Collaborate as necessary
with research projects, and meet with epidemiologists during the conduct of the study to address
issues related to study design, execution, analysis, reporting, and interpretation. Remain current on
state-of-the-art data management and statistical analysis techniques.
Requirements:
This position requires a Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics with at least 4
years of experience in conducting analyses within the pharmaceutical industry. Specifically,
experience with clinical data management and analysis is required. Research experience in patient
reported outcomes including quality of life, epidemiological or pharmaco-epidemiological studies, or
retrospective database studies is a strong plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as
well as strong ability to develop statistical (such as SAS) programs to manage and analyze data
required. SAS requirements are BASE, STAT, MACROS, & GRAPH. Ability to multi-task, i.e.,
handle multiple projects with organization and efficiency is a strong plus.

Senior Principal Programming Specialist
The incumbent provides timely support to the study team on all programming
matters according to the global project strategies. As an integral part of a
clinical and/or study team, the incumbent provides programming support for
processing data from clinical studies according to a Statistical Analysis Plan
and programming specification using internal standards and guidelines. The
incumbent provides guidance in implementing and executing the
programming and project standards at operational center. Perform, coordinate
and oversee the preparation, execution, reporting and documentation of the
study analysis programming (interim and final) within an operation center.
Contribute to the Monitoring of data quality during study conduct.
Proactively provide study updates; quickly provide information regarding
issues along with proposed solutions. Provide input to the Statistical
Analysis Plan (SAP) and programming specification. Work with statistician
in designing data presentations including summary tables, graphs, and
subject listings.
Provide input to Case Report Form design, database design and edit checks.
Contribute to the analysis and reporting of clinical trials; support through
regulatory approval, product launch and annual reports. Coordinate the
implementation and maintenance of the Global Integrated Database (GIDB).
Ensure the overall consistency of the data and derivations of individual
studies in the GIDB. Integrate individual studies into GIDB. Works in a
multi-disciplinary study team to provide timely and quality support for
analysis and reporting of clinical trials up to regulatory approval, product
launch and annual reports. Contribute to the establishment of the technical
requirements for development and implementation of systems and standards.
Requirement:
Bachelor or Master of Science degree or equivalent in
Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field. A
minimum of 7 years of programming experience in processing clincial trial data
in pharmaceutical industry for a Master candidate. A candidate with
Bachelor degree and 3 more years of pharmaceutical experiences will also be
considered. Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical clinical development and
ability to provide programming supports needs for NDA and other regulatory
submissions. Understanding of statistical concepts and techniques and of
clinical trial principles. Demonstrated teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a global environment.
Ability to perform effectively with minimum supervision. Provide guidance to
Junior programmers, if appropriate.
